Hy Charade friends.


My name is Rainer, I come from Vienna/Austria. I am married, 37 years old and prowd owner of a Charade G10 facelift version from 1981 (made in Dec.1980, first street registration in September 1981).

About 4 years ago I buy my Charade in very poor condition via ebay. The next 2 1/2 years I restore it as best as I can.

your charde was amazing and beautifull. I see at the youtube movie .Did you make complite restoration ,all part ,all engine repuild!!!?? Big Congratulation from me.I want se more photos with your charade. You must see my photos at this forum with my charade g10.My g10 drivin over 140 km/h and this is not end of speed up(sorry for my Englisch)

Thank you very much. No problem at all with your english mine is not better :)

If you have 5 speed gearbox it is no problem to drive about 160km/h, but my one has only the 4 speed gearbox. I have still left a 5 speed gearbox but I want it origin and the 5.speed have mostly a damaged in case of too less gearbox oil (the Charade G10 gearbox leakes mostly oil).

I have 4 gearbox :) my navigation showe me the speed 155-160 km/h.Rpm is at the 5 ( i must look at the navigation because speed meter is end :). I build the original expiration system, paint car ,all silicon cables, filther, igntion. My engine take the oil ,but the car is like a rocet.smoke is purple ,a must do it ,but i must now what was happend with my engine?. Engine starte with no problem at the -20 temperature .

Your Charade was the first what I have seen here, I searched for "G10" this morning before my account was enabled :)

I think you oil leak is happen by the piston rings in my opinion.

How much oil does it leak? 1/2 litre at 1000km?

Check as often as you can oil and let it be, there are no oversize pistons available. The bore diameter for the CB20 engine is 76mm, my engine was at a professional engine rebuilder and he bore it up to 76,08mm the maximum is 76,10mm.

A CB23 engine from a Charade G100 LOOKS similar, but it is'nt. The gearbox fitting points are not the same, the crankshift is different and the block itselfs is particular different at the oil pump cover (a CB23 cover will NOT fit an a CB20 block). This cover also have a bigger diameter for the bigger diameter crankshift.

And a CB23 with his gearbox will not fit into the G10, so the shift for the gearstic is complete different.

My engine take 2 l oil at 1000 km (but i must use 20W50) .I do this engine when I have time and money ( I am married from onhe month). I check oil if I remember:). I thing swap is not good idea, because a lot of engine what I see is not better then i have in my g10.
I check compression ,and is ok :)
I'am waiiting for more photos with your charade:)

Thats great! 2 Litres are a lot of oil.

As I got my Charade it lost 3 1/2 litres within 3 months WITHOUT starting the engine.

In this case (compression is okay) you should replace the 2 ring seals from the cranshaft, but before check the oilsump. My one leak oil at the screw. You can use the oilsump with another one from a G100 CB23 engine. The seal from the oilsump is the same from the CB23 and the CB20. :)

I know the problem with oil in my car is not a horrible problem. I do it in next month :) Acctualy my charade have wheels (from g 11 at winther 13 / 145cm/70) ,but in summer I drive at original g10 and tires 12 /155/80

Tecnical check by Goverment to proof for historical vehicle, now my car is here registered as "historical vehicle", I only allowed to drive it on 120 days per year to preserve the car! :)

ok :). I dowload all your manuals ,if you have more anything about g10 etc ,please upload.
My charade drive from city to city at express street and higway ,a lot of km is not a probllem for this car.My dad have g100. G100 is too slowly for my g10.I tested it VS. g100 have more weight.
